Timers & host controls
The host view is the cockpit for running your event — one timer is always “current” at a time.
Timer states
Every timer moves through the same states, shown just below the countdown:
- Pending — hasn't started yet. Shows a Start button.
- Running — counting down live. Shows Pause and End.
- Paused — stopped mid-way, time banked. Shows Resume (continue from where you left off) and End.
- Ended — finished. Shows Restart, which resets it back to its full duration and starts it again from 0:00 — unlike Resume, Restart does not keep the previously banked time.
Moving between timers
Next → moves to the next timer in your speaker/timer order (the same order shown on the edit page), automatically pausing whatever was running. Jump to, further down the page, lists every timer for every speaker — click any of them to start it directly, regardless of where you currently are. A checkmark (✓) marks timers that have already ended.
Adjusting time on the fly
The ±10s / ±30s / ±60s buttons adjust the current timer's duration. There's also a custom-minutes field with its own − / + buttons for bigger jumps. The same shortcuts work from your keyboard: ↑/↓ for ±10s, Shift+↑/↓ for ±30s, and Alt+↑/↓ for ±60s — these are disabled while you're typing in a text field, so they won't interfere with messaging or renaming.
Auto-advance
If a running timer reaches zero uninterrupted, the host view shows a “Moving to Next speaker in 10s” countdown, then automatically starts the next timer — the same as if you'd clicked Next yourself. This happens even if no one has the host view open, since it's driven by the server, not your browser.
Clicking Pause at any point during that countdown cancels it — you stay on the current timer. Adjusting the time also cancels and reschedules the countdown against the new remaining time. If the timer that's hitting zero is the last one in your running order, nothing happens — it just runs over, the same as it always could.
The rundown bar
Underneath the countdown, a colour-staged bar shows how much of the current timer has elapsed — green early on, shifting through amber to red as time runs out. It's the same bar your speaker sees on their own monitor, so you always know what they're seeing.
Messaging your speaker
Type a short note in the box below the hotkeys and click Send — it appears large and bold, directly on your speaker's monitor screen (not visible to the audience). Click Clear to remove it early.
A message is scoped to whichever timer was current when you sent it — the moment you move to a different timer (Next, Jump to, or auto-advance), any leftover message is cleared automatically so it never bleeds into the next speaker's segment.
⚡ Flash speaker screen pulses their entire screen white, twice, a second apart — useful as a silent, unmissable “look at your screen” nudge when you've just sent a message, or on its own.
